Herrin Festa Italiana

In Herrin, IL last weekend, a fair took place. It was in the small, Southern Illinois town of Herrin. My boyfriend is now the Carterville/Herrin Newspaper official photographer, so I hope to be able to post a few of his pictures here soon. It was more of a carnival with rides and fair food. The claim of Italian Oriented was pretty much contained to their Bocce Ball tournament rather than the food one might expect from the name. But if you have kids, it is always fun to be able to take them to a carnival with rides and lots of other kids. They had live bands every night and one included Kansas.

Luckily for everyone, the rain stopped in time for Sunday night and there were TONS of people in attendance, so it was nice for Herrin to host an event such as this.

The best part, I believe, was these two monkeys, Popito and his sister. They were amazingly adorable, and their mommy sews them clothing! They kept eating those little suckers and were so cute!!

Their website is HERE to get more info for next year.

Luthy Botanical Gardens

On June 27th and June 28th, the Luthy Botanical Gardens will be holding a nice event. A garden show will be so nice!! The Garden is located in Peoria, IL. The town is so nice and not overly huge. But big enough to draw a nice crowd. The town also built a new river side stage/venue area that is surrounded by many lovely restaurants and such. Such a cool place.

Please call (309) 681-3507 for more information.

And visit the PARK DISTRICT WEBSITE HERE.
And the "Name the Peoria Landmark Blog" HERE.

Also, this Saturday, they will be holding the Fancy Schmancy Flea Market. That sounds like a really fun time too!!

Shawnee Hills Wine Trail Art Festival

Today I visited the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail Art Festival. It was nice and hot too! There were a lot more vineyard and food vendors than last year. It was prety spread out as well, with was good and bad. I am not sure how much the art vendors were selling, but every booth that had wine sampling was completely PACKED!! I am not exactly sure where they advertised, since I am out of the loop of many mass mediums here. But...It was a very nice event, and I am sure it would be fun to bring the family and have a nice day in the sun. There was non-stop, live music, and the atmosphere was incredibly safe. I think they had a baseball game or two, which is a fun twist to other events anywhere.

There were some very nice vendors there too. They don't have a website as of yet, but I may make them a blog sooner or later. Just have to see who to talk to.

Today and tomorrow until 6pm. Check it out if you are in the area.
Entry Fee: $3 non-drinkers, $15 for wine glass with tons of samples...

Murphysboro, IL: Riverside Park Art and Wine Fair {Memorial Day Weekend}

Last year, I went to this fun art show. They also had some really great bluegrass music too! The entry fee was $3 general admission, or $15 if you wanted to do the wine tasting. The wine tasting included a free glass, and then you get to go around to all the different tents, and test as much wine as you probably wanted to. The art there was really nice, and I would've thought about participating in it, but did not get to that quick enough. The horrible storms in Carbondale a week ago really set a lot of people back, unfortunately.

So, if you are looking for a fun event to attend next weekend, please go to the Murphysboro, IL Riverside Park Art, Wine and Music Fest!!

Please Call Starview Vineyards at phone # 618-893-9463 for any more info.

Carbondale DAWF Rescheduled for May 8th at 4:30

Rainy weather made the Carbondale Downtown Art and Wine Fest reschedule for this coming weekend. This is great, though because now there is another great event to visit.

This past weekend was the first for the Murdale Farmer's Market, and my friend at Dayshift in Makanda said Makandafest went really wekk dispite the rain.

So, take a trip to the Downtown area in Carbondale, IL to see some really great artists.
