Hey everyone!
i'm working for the OSPCA (ontario society for the prevention of cruelty to animals) in petawawa as the Humane Education and Volunteer Coordinator. i'm currently looking for pet related handmade crafts for our Christmas Craft Sale.
The sale is going to be held on Dec 7 at the Civic Centre in Petawawa. If you are crafty (or know anyone who is) please help out! I'll need your crafts to arrive at the shelter no later than November 21st. So please mail your art/craft out early.
You'll receive recognition for your work, so please include a business card or other promotion material as you see fit. Again, i must stress that crafts need to be PET RELATED and HANDMADE.
I'm really looking for a lot of support from everyone so please help out if you can. Please forward this email on to anyone that you think would be interested as well. Getting a craft or two together would be a great way to get a few friends together one night AND you're helping the OSPCA continue their vital work (including sheltering, adoptions, education, volunteer opportunities, victims of violence services, etc).
Thanks for taking the time to read this request everyone! Get crafty!..and pass it on :)
I can be contacted directly at the shelter by emailing ospcavoled@vianet.ca
You can also catch up on some of my work at the shelter by checking out my blog: goonieintheboonies.blogspot.com/

That Trunk Show I was Talking About...
So I did have a lovely trunk show a week ago, now at the lovely Neighborhood Co-Op. I had such an amazing time, met some amazing people, was possibly offered a cool job...
They have 4 Owner Appreciation Days a year, so I was invited to ALL of them! They even had a guy playing guitar inside. I guess that's where I would be in the colder months too. But, the experience of being near but not at the Farmers Market was interesting. I had so much fun being the booth in front of the door. See more of my event listings at THE SHOP. And checkout the Co-Op's site HERE.

Abbot Kinney Festival on Venice Beach Sept. 28, 2008
Celebrating the 24th Annual Abbot Kinney Festival ...
**September 28,2008, VENICE will become the ultimate block party in celebration of the 24th annual Abbot Kinney Festival. Renowned for eclectic shopping and world class restaurants, Abbot Kinney Blvd will be closed to traffic from Main St. to Venice Blvd to accommodate 3 stages of live music, dancers and performance artists, a spectacular Family Courtyard, Traditional festival and ethnic foods, Beer Garden, Green Living Area and over 300 vendors featuring original, handcrafted goods.
**This year, AKDA is proud to announce that ABBOT KINNEY GOES GREEN! With the goal to be a zero waste event, we are encouraging recycling, providing carbon offsets and not allowing our vendors to use plastic bags or Styrofoam. In the "Green Living Area" there are environmentally conscious vendors and non-profits, interactive events, workshops and innovative ideas on Green living. We ask everyone to please bike to the event (there will be a bike valet), or take public transportation. If you plan to drive, remember parking is very limited. For those who plan to shop, we have cloth tote bags for sale - and if you have your own, then bring those too!

Promos in a Snap
Some really smart ideas here! Packaging is incredibly important to your company identity. If you have a cohesive look to your tags, business cards, signs, etc, people will begin to associate you with that, and that makes your brand name a part of YOU. This person is just such an amazing designer, and I am truly not sure how many fairs she attends. But these images are so important to our shows, that I had to include them! See her on Flickr HERE!!

Kunkle Baby @ Craftin' Outlaws!
So cute! A woman after my own heart in the way of sewing baby items. Her pictures appeared on my front page when I got on Flickr today. She uses these cute, white ceramic plates, and also one of these trays that has 3 layers to it, also with coordinating plates. I believe that this look could be achieved fairly simply with plates you have already, or ones you find whilst thrifting. Not saying hers are, but you surely could.
See her lovely items here on FLICKR!

Sew Hats
Now this is a hand made item I have never featured before. This woman seems to really have so much fun with these amazingly beautiful hats. These have a life of their own, so she found a perfect way to display them without disotracting from their beauty. {on a side note...I remember a certain Project Runway U.K. Edition where they went to a horse race and had to make outfits inspired by these amazing hats.} Anyhoo! Check out these great hats HERE on her Flickr Page.
