StoneMountain & Daughter Fabric Shop in Berkley, CA

This craft-friendly, fabric-friendly shop is so fun!! It looks like this shop is their only one. They have a really nice selection of unique materials and notions too!! See their website HERE.

As for craft shows in Berkley, I found this info:

Maven: Urban Design + Craft Fair
Read more on Craft: blog here...
1700 Dwight Way
(between Mcgee Ave & Roosevelt Ave)
Berkeley, CA 94703
(415) 710-4726

"The idea for Maven: Urban Design + Craft Fair was born from the final project in Adjowah Brodie's graphic design class at San Francisco City College. The professor asked the class to design a two color poster that captured the essence of a place or event, and Adjowah, an Oakland based jewelry designer, made a poster for the fictitious Women of Color Crafts Fair. She loved her poster so much she wanted the fair to be real. Although she has decided not to continue with her studies in the Graphics field, Adjowah was able to make the craft fair a reality.

Maven: Urban Design + Craft Fair is an indie boutique style craft fair featuring the Bay Area's most exquisitely skilled and ultra crafty women artisans. Held the second Saturday of every month, the next event takes place on October 14th from noon - 5p.m., at the corner of Dwight and McGee in Berkeley, California. Maven is a Hebrew word, which, loosely translated, means "One who is skilled in any field". Adjowah chose the name because she felt it best described both herself and the artists she'd met over the years at various fairs & festivals. "Off the top of my head I can name a local Soap Maven, a Felt Maven, even a Paper Jewelry Maven." Adjowah describes her customers as mavens, too. "When you shop this fair, you officially become a Shopping Maven, because you will be choosing from an eclectic assortment of gifts you just can't find anywhere else. You'll be an exceptionally gifted giver."

The Maven Craft Fair seeks to promote the businesses of all women, with a special emphasis on women of color in the arts/crafts/handmade/D.I.Y. communities. The Maven Craft Fair presents the best of the best, with a strong commitment to locally handmade arts, crafts, goods and services. Although Adjowah has gracefully exited the world of graphics, she is enthusiastic about her new project and looks forward to seeing it grow. "There's nothing else like it in the East Bay." she explains. "I know a lot of great women crafty types and I already have a waiting list for the November show. There is a need for this kind of marketplace, and I'm glad to be a part of it".

They really seem to have a great show schedule. They opened their etsy shop in March of 2009, so please take a look at their HUGE INVENTORY!! Believe me, they have more under their belts than what these 2 images depict. Visit them HERE...

"We are three sisters, with studios in three different locations, working together to produce bags and accessories from hundreds of unique fabrics. Each bag is handcrafted by one of us from patterns we have created. All of our bags are lined with carefully selected coordinating fabrics.

WE ARE A GREAT SOURCE FOR UNIQUE GIFTS. We have a large inventory of novelty themed fabrics, so if you know someone who’s “into” something (aren’t we all?) we probably have a fabric for that special interest. If we don’t have it in stock, we’ll know where to get it."

Mahar Dry Goods at Unique Los Angeles, 2008

Through this amazing set of images on Flickr by Mahar Dry Goods, I was truly inspired. Both by craft fair setup and merchandise type items. They have such a cool feel to their booth, I really wish I could visit them some day soon. Their clothing rack is killer, ,and i also love their fabric sign that is led by a giant paper airplane. how creative.
Mahar Dry Goods sells clothing, furniture, stockings, pillow and other stuffed goodies, ceramics, luggage, and probably a lot more. See their website HERE.

Bust London and Bust L.A. Show

These Bust Craftacular shows look like a pretty happening event. They seem to be marketing it as a a club happening with DJs as well as a kind of alternative and perhaps "punk" styling to the crafts available.

See a lot more pictures here...

Abbot Kinney Festival on Venice Beach Sept. 28, 2008

Celebrating the 24th Annual Abbot Kinney Festival ...

**September 28,2008, VENICE will become the ultimate block party in celebration of the 24th annual Abbot Kinney Festival. Renowned for eclectic shopping and world class restaurants, Abbot Kinney Blvd will be closed to traffic from Main St. to Venice Blvd to accommodate 3 stages of live music, dancers and performance artists, a spectacular Family Courtyard, Traditional festival and ethnic foods, Beer Garden, Green Living Area and over 300 vendors featuring original, handcrafted goods.

**This year, AKDA is proud to announce that ABBOT KINNEY GOES GREEN! With the goal to be a zero waste event, we are encouraging recycling, providing carbon offsets and not allowing our vendors to use plastic bags or Styrofoam. In the "Green Living Area" there are environmentally conscious vendors and non-profits, interactive events, workshops and innovative ideas on Green living. We ask everyone to please bike to the event (there will be a bike valet), or take public transportation. If you plan to drive, remember parking is very limited. For those who plan to shop, we have cloth tote bags for sale - and if you have your own, then bring those too!
