Fun, Indie Shows for YOU!!
Thank Goodness for people like "Loop+Lil"! She is very into doing really cool, really big art shows and then shares the good word to people who read her blog. She is a really great seamstress, and I found her in a slide show on Flickr!
Please take a look at her BLOG

and of course, her charming website...
"After a great time last weekend at the October Market, we've jumped right into readying ourselves for the Urban Street Bazaar. Come by the Bishop Arts District this Saturday (12-8pm) and Sunday (12-4pm) and visit us, as well as over 85 other great artists. And while you're down there, bring us a burger from Hunky's too! See you there!"
" October Market at St. Thomas Aquinas in East Dallas at Mockingbird and Alderson. We're excited to be doing a show close to home after traveling this summer.
Here's the scoop from the October Market:
The October Market is a one of a kind shopping
experience featuring items such as jewelry, home
accessories, art, antiques, personalized gifts, clothing
and more. With over forty new vendors, this year's
October Market is bigger and better than ever!
So, come join us for a day of shopping, lunch at the
Mom’s CafĂ©, and photos in the Pumpkin Patch."
"If you're in the DFW area and want to beat the heat inside while doing a little shopping, check it out on Friday evening, August 21st from 5-9pm and Saturday, August 22nd from 3-7pm. I've never been to a trunk show with this much fun stuff going on. Not only are there great vendors including Harrilu and Tara to the T (who were the other two Dallas artists at Renegade LA), but there are also going to be chair massages, makeup and hair consultations (I could desperately use), and other fun stuff. Parking
To make campus parking more convenient during University operating hours, we encourage the use of free parking in Lot 56 south of the Arena. This will allow more customers easy access to the craft sales.
We will, however, continue to offer parking permits. Vendors using the permit must park in the lot directly across from the Student Center. You may pick up your permit upon arrival, on the day of the sale.
Please request a parking permit on the Craft Sale Application. The deadline for purchasing a parking permit is the Monday prior to the sale. Please make your check payable to SIUC in the amount of $4.00 per day, excluding Saturdays.
Overnight Security and Liability
Overnight security is provided for the Holiday Craft Sale only. All items must be removed each night for other sales.
Vendors exhibit their work at their own risk. The Student Center Craft Shop is not responsible for lost or damaged merchandise.
Local Accommodations
Many hotels and restaurants are located within a five mile radius of campus. Further information is available upon request.
Promotion
Promotion includes advertisements in campus and local newspapers, as well as distribution of Craft Sale flyers and press releases to all local media.

Vulture Fest 2009 and Art Around the Square (Carbondale, IL)
Tonight was the Carbondale Downtown Art and Wine Festival. It was nice to vend at, and the weather was absolutely amazing!!! Please visit the DAWF Website for more info...
Next weekend (October 9), is the Art Around the Square, where local businesses in the downtown area feature artists from all over the country in their shops. Many times, the artists may even begin selling their work from the shop after the event too. Please visit The Art Around the Square Website for more info. Stop into Dayshift if you have a chance to see two really great artists!! (Carbondale, IL)
Then, the following weekend (October 17-18) is Vulture Fest!! I will be there shopping and possibly vending. The boardwalk is a fun place to visit and there will be lots of art, crafts, and music. Some good food (especially the candied almonds and pecans...yum!!) Dayshift will be vending there too. (Makanda, IL)
Tis the season to be creative and make, sew, craft, whatever you fancy!! The nice cooler weather (at least in the Midwest) inspires more people to get put in their communities and enjoy local art and other fun activities. The holidays are fast approaching, so stock up your Etsy shops and be prepared this year!!
Happy Crafting!!
